It’s Britney, B*tch.

I have always been a big fan of Brit… even through the dark years.  What gives it away?… Is it the fact my iPod is filled with her #1 hits?  Or that I dressed up as Oops I Did It Again Britney in a red leather catsuit and a headset for Halloween ’00?  Maybe it was the time that I went as a Britney-Madonna duo with a friend in 2003? Perhaps that I was one of the first to buy tickets for myself and the Ya’s for her 2000 World Tour?   She may be one sandwich short of a picnic, but I’ll always be A Slave 4 this Louisiana girl.

Check out Britney’s spread it this month’s Harper’s Bazaar…  No more sub-par hair extensions, or eye-liner dripping down her face.  She’s back y’all.  And better than ever.

Girl Crush: India Hicks.

I have long admired the style of India Hicks.   This model, designer and entrepreneur is a mom to four (that’s right) FOUR kids. She makes Island Chic look so friggin’ effortless.

There are so many reasons to adore this style icon.  Let’s start at the beginning…..
India is the daughter of the famed British designer David Hicks and her mother, Pamela Hicks is the daughter to the Earl and Countess Mountbatten of Burma.  She is the Goddaughter of Prince Charles and served as one of Princess Diana’s flower girls.  Born in London, India was named in honor of her Grandfather- Lord Mountbatten, the last Viceroy to India, who is responsible for giving India Independence in 1947.  Hence, her name.
She’s had a successful modeling career with the likes of W magazine and Ralph Lauren.
In 2006 she partnered up with Crabtree and Evelyn to launch her own collection of fragrances.  She has since published many design books and even hosted Bravo’s Top Design in 2008, which she sites as a “weird and wonderful experience.”

India moved to the Bahamas and resides there with her partner, David Flint Wood and their four children, Felix, Amory, Conrad and Domino.  They have renovated several Bahamian Bungalows.

I love these shots… BEFORE….
 …and AFTER.

Some of these properties are rented out to the public.  You can live a day in the life of India Hicks here.

Girl Crush: Gwyneth Paltrow.

Albeit an obvious choice, today I want to celebrate Gwyneth Paltrow. One of my favorite personal style icons, Gwyneth seems to have mastered it all. Life is a balancing act for this wife, mother, actress, singer and fashionista. Her blog, GOOP has quite a following (yours truly included) with great tips on everything from cleansing to shopping to travel and activities for your kids. Her face has graced the covers of nearly every magazine, and not many people know it, but this girl’s got pipes too. Cruisin’ is a family fave of ours, Mike used to dance with E to it every night when she was a little babe. Did I mention that Gwyneth also has upcoming appearance on Glee? Cannot WAIT for that one.
Decorating? It’s in her wheelhouse. Can we talk about the kitchen in her Hamptons home?

Probably my favorite Oscar dress ever was the Ralph Lauren pink satin gown that she wore in 1999. So classic, timeless. And of course, it’s the perfect shade of pink. She also won the award for Best Actress for her role in Shakespeare in Love that night.
Ok.. At this point I am becoming a stalker… but how can you not love this woman? I want to be her friend. Seriously, Gwynnie… here’s my number, if you’re ever in D.C. give me a holla. 😉

Girl Crush: Selena Gomez.

If your house is anything like mine, you are very familiar with Selena. Her new video Round & Round plays on the Disney Channel non-stop. Well, this little Disney Starlet just turned 18 last week- and boy, has she come into her own (and not in a totally inappropriate Miley Cyrus way either.) This girl’s got a classic, simple style about her, and it doesn’t hurt that she’s drop dead gorgeous either. I am sure the Jonas brothers are knocking down her door as we speak!

Girl Crush: Lauren Conrad.

What a life. Young and beautiful… career opportunities being thrown at her, and tons of free designer clothes. This little lady has created quite an empire for herself off of the Hills. Just goes to show you the power of the tweeners.
I absolutely love her style. Casual, fun, bohemian-chic, yet able to achieve a polished, classic look in an instant. Enjoy!

Girl Crush: Blake Lively.

Let me start this post by saying that I have never seen an episode of Gossip Girl. I am, however an avid reader of Us Weekly and People. I every now and again see pictures of Blake Lively pop up and think: 1.) She is gorgeous 2.) I wish I had her body and 3.) She has an amazing sense of style. I mean, honestly, I have never seen that girl miss the mark. I am bummed because the picture that inspired me to write this post is unavailable online, but you can find it in last month’s Vogue. She’s all dolled up in a tight blue minidress and looks breathtaking. If I find it, I will be sure to post an update, but for now just enjoy this eye candy.
PS: A little unknown fact about Blake Lively is that her half-brother, Jason played Rusty in National Lampoon’s European Vacation. “Russ, I think he’s gonna pork her.” That Russ….
