The One That Got Away.

You know you have issues when you dream about furniture that you just couldn’t let go of.  For one reason or another, it just wasn’t meant to be.  Without further adieu, let me introduce you to my last lost love.
I first saw her at HomeGoods in Venice, Fla.  She was perfect.
Lacquer top, Linen fronts, gorgeous gold hardware
and PINK organizers in each drawer.
The detailing was impeccable.
I tried to talk my Pops into hauling it up north for our family beach house, but he refused. 🙁
So very sad.

Fashion Friday: The LBD.

Now that Thanksgiving is behind us, we are in full holiday swing!  Time to start planning ensembles for the various cocktail parties to celebrate the season.  Although it sounds cliche- there is no better staple in your wardrobe than a little black dress.  Dress it up or dress it down, here are dresses to meet every style, shape and budget!

A Little Touch Of Pink Goes A Long Way.

This week I pulled the trigger on E’s new homework desk.  This kid is so excited to have her own desk– now I hope she’ll actually do her homework.
It’s funny.  This picture actually has lilac walls similar to hers and I plan on a lot of pink accents.  Just like these.
Now there should be no more excuses! 😉

E’s Windows.

A few readers emailed me about the sources on E’s Windows…. Here are the dets:
I actually ordered her Levolor roller shades from Lowes.  I actually used the Levolor site that has a great tool that allows you to customize your shade virtually and even change the wall color to see what it will look like.  Here’s a screen shot of mine.

One thing that was not great was their color options for trim. Very limited.  The only pink trim that they had was this rose gimp, circa 1984.  It is actually MUCH more faded than this in person.
They also wouldn’t allow me to order a scalloped edge without gimp, so I ordered the rose and replaced the trim with a hot pink gimp after they arrived.

Her curtains are made of clearance taffeta that I picked up at G Street Fabrics.  They have both a liner and a blackout liner to prevent fading.

The hardware is from Restoration Hardware.  I always wait for a good sale before buying anything there.

A Little R & R.

Last week we headed down to Florida to hang out with Grandpa and Helen.  It was a much needed break for all of us.

Every Sunday, Siesta Key has a drum circle that brings out all walks of life.  (See picture below.)
Lou is definitely my little free spirt. Just check out her tribal dance.
We spent a lot of time with marine life.  There were the Mermaids at Weeki Wachee.

 Fishing with Gramps.

Meeting Winter from a Dolphin Tale.
 And lots of exploring.

I spent a lot of time cooking, which always make me happy.  A crowd favorite was this.
Which led me to this when we got home.

On Sunday, the girls and I watched Annie by the fire.  It was perfect.
Now it’s time to get back to the grind.
