Chartreuse and Gray.

Lately I am seeing more of this color combo popping up.  In moderation, I really like it.   Here are some of my favorite spaces in this palette.
Here’s how to get the look.  While some of these are higher end items, never rule out some of my favorite design tools: HomeGoods, Spray paint and a whole lot of creativity!

O’verlays Giveaway.

Cheryle Rhuda and Danika Herrick were friends who saw a common an overlap in their interior design businesses; a lack on interesting materials to refurbish furniture.  The two have built an empire off of DIYer’s and their desire to champagne quality furniture on a beer budget.  Just look at some of these amazing furniture transformations that were created with O’verlays.

After this post about O’verlays, I had to try them for myself.  Here is the result:

More Anthropologie Ikat Bowl Lookalikes.

I have received so many emails about the green Ikat bowls on the shelf in our kitchen.  They are from Anthropologie, and I am sad to say, that they have been discontinued.  The good news is that I see more and more lookalikes popping up.

Like these from C. Wonder

Or these from Z. Gallerie.

This one from Jill Rosenwald is gorgeous, but a bit out of my price range.

World Market has a few.

There were a lot of affordable ikat bowls that are now out of stock, but keep your eye out because they may restock.  One of my favorites is this one from Nate Berkus for HSN.

Or these from Anthropologie.

I loved this one on One King’s Lane.  The point is, keep your eyes peeled… something will pop up!

Fashion Friday: Holy Crapoly! Ann’s Got Her Groove Back.

I remember the ole’ college days when my girlfriends and I dreamed of the day that we could afford Ann Taylor clothes.  It was all the rage.  Then over the years, AT became (ok, I am just going to say it…..)  busted.    I am here to tell you the old Ann is gone.. this girl’s got a brand new look and it is on point.   I was watching the Today show yesterday and spotted this neon number and my eyes just about popped out of my head.
So, of course, I went right to my computer and was stunned at the newest jewelry collection.

Run, don’t walk to your computer.  Use the code STOCKUP and receive 25% 2 full-priced items or 40% off of 3 full-priced items.  Free shipping.

My Living Room Lamps.

As many of you saw in my Living Room Project mood board, I was planning for something like these Westwood Gold Lamps for my new Rast end tables.
But at $318 each, I think Mike would have a seizure. So, here’s how I got the look for MUCH less.  Remember these cable knit lamps from HomeGoods?
Well, obviously, I spray painted them.
I had to stray from my go-to which is Krylon’s Gold to Rustolium’s Brass to match the gold foil on the new shades I ordered.
As you can see these new black shades were bigger than the old navy ones
so I had to buy new harps too.  The old shades were two inches shorter than the new, so I increased the harp size from 8″ to 10″.
and voila!  I put them back together and couldn’t be happier with the final result.  And at $170 for both lamps versus the $636 that I would have paid for the Westwood lamps, I think Mike couldn’t be happier either!
