A Sneak Peek…

As you may already know, E wanted her room redone for her 7th birthday (which isn’t until September, btw.. but at the rate I am going I am lucky to have it done by Christmas.)  So, while the painters were at the house, I had them paint our guest bedroom, and I couldn’t be more in love.  I chose Silver Chime by Duron.  It’s so calming.  When I first painted a swatch on the walls, I thought they forgot to mix it and gave me a can of white paint.  It’s ever-so-grey and ever-so-calming.  Of course, I am a color girl and plan on turning up the color with artwork and accessories.  My quest for color started with my framed Vera Scarf that I bought months ago.
I finally found the perfect frame (I had to save up for it) and couldn’t be more excited with the outcome.  Hopefully, I’ll be able to give you a full reveal much sooner than Christmas. 😉

Chartreuse and Gray.

Lately I am seeing more of this color combo popping up.  In moderation, I really like it.   Here are some of my favorite spaces in this palette.
Here’s how to get the look.  While some of these are higher end items, never rule out some of my favorite design tools: HomeGoods, Spray paint and a whole lot of creativity!

Shelter Envy: Brooke Shields.

I have always loved Brooke Shields.  I think she is so beautiful.  Did you know that at 14 she was the youngest Vogue covergirl?  I am still bummed that Lipstick Jungle got canceled…. Seriously, it was a great show!  She also wrote one of my favorite children’s books that I read to my girls every night for what seems like two years, Welcome to Your World, Baby.
Anywho, when I was browsing the magazine section at the grocery store, I came across a a stunning room on the cover of Architectural Digest (I always kick myself for not subscribing as the money I have wasted on buying single issues could pay for my kids’ college education… Note to self– subscribe today.)  As a self-professed Brooke lover, I am sure that you can imagine my excitement to see her posing next to the oh-so-perfect mantle.  Just look at these drool-worthy shots of her Upper East Side townhouse!

A Composition of Perfection.

Every Mom loves to hang onto the pieces of artwork that their child creates.  I keep mine on a bulletin board in our craft room.  But now with two kids and 10 collective years of artwork, I am having a hard time displaying it all.  Well, I have just found what I want for Mother’s Day.
Jan Eleni is a New York based designer who will create a Guggenheim-worthy collage of your child’s artwork.  Eleni offers two options for collages: a hand-cut collection of archival-quality images that are professionally framed (prices start at $3,800), or a less- expensive option of a printed custom collage (prices starting at $950.)

Not sure if this is in the budget for this Mother’s Day…. I am feeling a new DIY project coming my way!
