Fashion Friday: Clothing Sources.

Thank you to everyone for their sweet notes about our photos.  Ryann did such an amazing job.  A few readers emailed me with questions about what we are wearing in the pictures..
My shirt and scarf are from H &  M.  I probably bought them in September… they may still be in stock.  Earrings are Kenneth Jay Lane, Mike gave them to me for Christmas a few years ago.  E’s flower is from Anthropologie (she actually borrowed that one from Mom.)  I actually bought it from the clearance bin a few years ago as well.
My jeans are actually from the Gap beleive it or not.  I LOVE them.. Bought them last year- super comfy!
My boots are Steve Maddens that I bought last year at South Moon Under.  I’m sorry… a lot of the items that I am wearing came out of retirement and are no longer available.  For those of you asking I was able to pull together a similar look (and I was able to find the boots online!)

Lou’s outfit was also made up of a lot of items that are out of stock.  Here is a similar look that I pulled together:

Lou’s tunic in this picture is from Crazy 8.  I bought it last summer.
So many of you asked about E’s clothes. Most of these items are also no longer in stock, so I pulled together a similar outfit to E’s as well:

I think that about covers it!

Mini-Capes.

Capes are the ultimate fall accessory.  I have two camel capes that I adore, one in wool, and the other in a lightweight fabric.  I am not a sewer, but I wish that I was, because this tutorial looks pretty simple.   For those of you that are and have a little girl or two in your life, these capes are a MUST.  And, if you want to make two more…. the Salmon girls wear a size 8 and a size 5T. 😉

E’s Party Q & A.

A few of you have emailed me questions about E’s Party.  Hopefully this post will answer them.
All of the instruments on the cake were made from fondant.  The zebra pattern at the bottom was actually a zebra ribbon.  After explaining the design to Kristy, this is the sketch that she came up with.
Pretty true to life, right?  Isn’t she amazing?
The invitations were made in MS Word.  The font is Taller Evolution.  The invitation paper and envelopes are from Paper Source, and the Zebra paper is from Michael’s.
The Back Stage Passes were made in MS Word.
The “Rock n’ Rolls are actually Tropical Lemonheads.    I found them at the Dollar Tree, and picked them because of the colors, not knowing how they tasted.  I have to say, they were the hit of the party.  They taste like jelly beans.

My dress and belt (both on sale now, of course) are from Anthropologie.  E’s shirt is from Crewcuts.  It seems to be sold out, but they have a similar one with long sleeves here.

I think that’s everything.  Thanks so much for all of your emails and kind words.  This party was so much fun to create.

What I’m Loving for Fall.

There are so many items that I want for fall.  My Fall Forecast will tell you to stock up on brightly colored bottoms, leopard anything, gold flats, and I (not a surprise coming from me) chunky gold jewelry. Dark nails are not a thing of the past, and everything is more fun with a little glitter.
I need to keep reminding myself that I am on a budget and I have two kids who will need to go to college someday… not to mention the two over-the-top weddings that they will have.  I must admit, I have bought a few items on this list (ahem…. #’s 1, 4 and 6, to be exact.) The only two that are out of my price range are of course the two I love the most!  Hopefully some of you can throw caution to the wind and I can live vicariously through you.

Guess Who?

Guess who is FINALLY getting an online store?  Buckle you seat belts ladies, because next week ZARA will be launching their online shopping mecca.  I have heard conflicting reports whether it will be September 6 or September 7, but I would start checking on the 6th to make sure you can scoop up your top picks as items are going to be flying off of those virtual shelves. For those of you who are not familiar with the Spanish clothing brand, here is a little taste of what you are in for.
