The Princess and the F.R.O.G.

A few months ago, my niece Allie emailed me that she wanted a “cooler” place for her and her friends to hang out.  You see the F.R.O.G (Front Room Over the Garage) in their house was her designated area and it just didn’t meet her style.  Since she was a high school senior and my sister and brother in-law would be moving upon her graduation, we had a very tight budget to work within.  Here are some befores..
Allie and I worked around some of her favorite things… Her favorite color was turquoise and she wanted it to have a cool vibe.  Since we were on a limited budget, all of them items were wither DIY or on the cheap.  They live in Chapel Hill, NC, so everything was done virtually.  Here was the plan we worked up.
I received pictures from them after just a few changes and wow, what a difference a coat of paint and some elbow grease makes.
Keep up the good work, ladies!

Porter Teleo.

If you haven’t noticed, abstract and artisinal fabrics and wallpapers are on the rise.  Enter Porter Teleo.  This company was created in 2004 by artist Kelly Porter and Interior Designer Bridgett Cochran.
 I am a big fan.
So is Kelly.
Here are the ladies at work. And here some of their creations.
Pretty amazing, right?

In Good Company.

Company Kids has really stepped it up in the last few months.  Just check out some of these headboards.  Most of them come in 21 colors and range from $400-700 each.  They come in twins, doubles and queens.  Perfect for big kids too!
I am also loving the vibrant colors in their home accessories.

Reality Check.

Last week we made a jaunt down to Savannah.  The weather was about 20 degrees less than we expected (thank you Gap and Target for the girls new wardrobes.)
These two were obsessed with their new hats.
While Mommy was obsessed with other things.
I took two of these pillows home with me.
They are simply breathtaking in person.  The fabric is Aurora Ikat.
Joss & Main is currently having a sale with this chair in the Aurora fabric.  I hope I didn’t jump the shark on this one-because I paid a pretty penny for those pillows and I will be P-I-S-S-E-D if I see them in HomeGoods next week!
Meanwhile, since we got home on Saturday this one has been puking.  Yesterday we spent pretty much the entire day (and night) in the ER.  A few dozen bags of fluids and some TLC and she is almost out of the woods.  Fingers crossed.

Grandin Road: Benched.

As many of you know, we are undertaking some serious landscaping projects.  I have been on the hunt for the perfect bench for my front yard for months.  Suddenly, I found it.
The bad news is that it’s from last year and no longer available.
The good news is that it brought me to Grandin Road, who has a TON of great outdoor furniture pieces.  Check, check ’em.
