Pink and Purple Makeover!

Remember this ottoman from HomeGoods?
Well, she has gotten a major makeover.

And this rocking chair that I bought for $20 on CraigList?  The frame used to be a dilapidated brown. (Sorry, I can’t find the original CL pic.)  We stripped it and painted it a high-gloss black.  Here she is before the new fabric…

And here she is now.
We still have a ways to go, but her room is really coming together.  We need to stay on track so that we can make room for her new homework desk that she will be getting for Christmas.
More pics of her room tomorrow!

Ikea to the Rescue (Again.)

I have been pinning lighting options for our guest bedroom for months now.  I was dead-set on pewter sconces over the nightstands just like these.
I even had the perfect pair picked out:
However, something in me couldn’t stomach spending $1,000 on two lights for a room we hardly use.
A few weeks ago, I was at Ikea and spotted these babies….  for $29.99 each!  Done and done.  Life’s all about choices, people.  Now I have more money to put towards my living room lighting budget!

Overstock.com

It’s no secret that I am a big fan of Overstock.com.  I have had some major scores there… Like our kitchen rug or bedroom bench to name a few.  Here are some steals that I found on my latest hunt.
Love this Mosaic tile.
How gorgeous is this gold and marble table?
Seriously contemplating this chandy for our guest bedroom.
Sunburst Mirror on the cheap.
The fabric on this ottoman is so versatile.. great to use instead of a coffee table (especially if you have little ones learning to walk!)
I am in love with this bed.
Fabulous pillows.
This rug is a great Madeline Weinrib knockoff!
Who doesn’t love a tufted ottoman?
Loving this baby.
This curved bench would be so perfect at a large round table.  I would definitely want to reupholster it. 😉

Designing Your Own Fabric.

I started working on our living room/dining room project long before the days of Spoonflower.  I was so annoyed during this process,  because I knew what I wanted, but I just couldn’t find it…  ANYWHERE.  So, I scoured the earth for the perfect yellow linen and worked with my go-to-artist, Corinne Marlowe to create a stencil that would provide the exact look that I was going for.  Not as cost-effective as buying something off the shelf, but to me, it was worth every penny.  I just love the way the metallic gold paint dresses up the linen.  It takes this space to a whole new level.
Here is the stencil that we created.
Corinne hand-stenciled the fabric.
And I had the panels made… And voila!  Here they are in the living room…
and dining room…
