I have lusted after this kitchen designed by Windsor Smith for what seems like ages.
What I love most is the red kitchen chairs that she pairs with the table. I have contemplated painting my chairs (that are currently black) red for some time. I feel like it would give a much needed pop to my otherwise black and white kitchen.
Let’s take a look at some more lucious red chairs, shall we?…
What are your thoughts? Do these kitchens have you seeing red?
Last year I bought this Amrita Singh necklace at South Moon Under. It is literally a show stopper. I have random women stop me and ask where I got it. Unfortunately South Moon Under doesn’t carry it anymore.. However (random ladies at the mall… it’s your lucky day) I found a store out there that does.
Upon our suggestion, our next door neighbors jetted off to Beaches, Turks and Caicos this week. (Can you say JEALOUS?) Which got me thinking about what wonderful memories we’ve had there. Last year, Mike and E surprised me with a little “Wedding” where we renewed our vows. What a great day we had. Those two planned the whole thing, and I was shocked at how well-planned and elegant everything was. Then I realized that they got by with a little help from the Queen of Crafts.
Beaches is now partnering up with Martha Stewart Weddings. It’s like a wedding in a box, but one that even this “Type A” could go for. There are six wedding packages to choose from, or you can customize. I am super impressed with the stylish options that they have for weddings- and all you have to do is show up.
If you’ve been reading this blog for some time, you already know about my love for all things nautical. Better yet, if it’s navy blue- I am all in. I have recently been considering how I can incorporate navy into my home. I particularly love a crisp, clean palette of navy and white. We are thinking of rearranging a few things around here which includes a new laundry room. I am dreaming of glossy white walls with two Hicks Pendants and a fantastic navy and white fabric on the windows…. Alas, we will be paying a big fat tax bill instead. So my dreamy white laundry room will have to wait, but for those of you who are able to add some navy into your life, here are some great ideas:
I have been yearning for a feather Juju Hat for what seems like ages. What the hell is a Juju hat you ask? Behold:
Traditionally worn by Village Chiefs in the Cameroon region of central Africa, Juju hats have since gained popularity with interior designers, and are often used as an eye-catching accessory for the home. Beautiful bird feathers are painstakingly hand sewn onto a raffia fiber base/basket that splays out into a huge circle. Feathers are considered rare objects of beauty and a symbol of prosperity and wealth associated with the positive qualities of birds.
Very much a trend of the moment, the concern is that by the time I save up to buy one, that they will be yesterday’s trend. But I truly believe that I love the pop of color and the layers of texture so much that this is not something I will stash away in my storage room in a year. I think it would look gorgeous over a guest bed, mantle or piano.
The lovely Louise has plenty in stock. I just can’t decide if I want the orange or pink.
A few months ago, my friend Kristin Mika asked me to help her coordinate her son Jackson’s 4th birthday party. The theme: Firetrucks. I was thrilled to help as I don’t get to plan many boy’s parties.
Kristin had a good idea in her head as to what she wanted, just needed some help editing. We did things like design tags, pick fonts, fabrics and talked through the flow of the party and where everything should go. I also helped with her with some ideas to keep the kiddos entertained like “Pin the Tail on the Dalmation” , “Hot Dalmation” (like Hot Potato.)
Here are some of the concepts that we discussed:
1.) “Pin the tail on the Dalmation” game. (Image by HPD.)
10.) Custom candy tags and cupcake toppers with images from HPD.
Another friend, Kristy Patterson (I know, it gets confusing Krista, Kristin and Kristy..) designed the candy table. We designed the layout and the tags for the candy. While I was not there the day of the party, it was a great success! Here are the final results, pictures taken by James Woo:
I hope this was inspiration for those of you who may be in the market for a Firetruck Party. I had so much fun with Kristin and Kristy planning the event. If you need customized invites, labels or gifts, call Kristin… if you are looking for an amazing candy table, Kristy is your girl.
As most of you know, I recently celebrated a birthday. Every year, I am asked for a list by my husband. I have been waiting patiently to ask for this baby; The Crushed Stone Necklace.
Well, much to my disappointment, my favorite color, pink was no longer available. I was crushed. Here are the colors that ARE available. Although they are amazing for such a low price point ($158), I am hoping that Sparking Sage releases some Spring colors soon. Because I am such a giver, I wanted to let you all in on the secret… These necklaces were too good not to share.
