Our little Anna Lou is home and went off for her first day back at school today! \u00a0We are so blessed, the surgery could not have gone better and her doctors are thrilled with how quickly she has recovered. \u00a0 We are still awaiting her pathology report, but from what her surgeon saw- \u00a0we shouldn’t expect any surprises.<\/p>\n

In the four days that I spent at Children’s National Medical Center I couldn’t help but think about how blessed we are. \u00a0We were there proactively treating our daughter to prevent the onset of thyroid cancer. \u00a0We were surrounded by so many that weren’t as fortunate. \u00a0For many in the surgical unit- \u00a0this was their last hope for their children. \u00a0This wasn’t lost on us. \u00a0It’s a shame that it takes seeing so many\u00a0less fortunate than you to realize how good you have it.<\/p>\n

We were so humbled by the entire experience and so impressed with the entire staff at Children’s. \u00a0From the doctors and nurses, to the administrators and the janitors. \u00a0Being there for any\u00a0amount of\u00a0time it’s clear to see how the\u00a0employees’\u00a0main\u00a0focus is to nurture every\u00a0child that they touch. \u00a0However, with an epidemic\u00a0of pediatric cancer and the rising costs of treatment\u00a0it becomes difficult to provide such quality healthcare to the masses. \u00a0This is the case at so many Children’s Hospitals across the country. \u00a0We are indebted to the staff at Children’s and have become forever changed by our experience. \u00a0Now it’s time for us to give back so that so many children have the chance to grow up, just like our Anna Lou.\u00a0\u2665<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
