Yesterday I returned from a whirlwind trip to California and came home to a pile of mail. \u00a0Immediately, I gravitated to the shelter magazines- \u00a0one of them being House Beautiful. \u00a0 Inside was a spread of former\u00a0Domino and Lonny\u00a0editor Michelle Adams. She left the high-paced life of NYC and bought a fixer-upper in her home state of Michigan. \u00a0First of all, let me say I can’t beleive she didn’t get the cover! \u00a0Michelle pens the article herself. \u00a0I love how she describes different elements of her home and even shares tricks that she learned from her days as an editor.\"Michelle<\/a>You can check out the before and afters\u00a0here. <\/a>\u00a0I’m seriously digging this\u00a0\u00fcber\u00a0<\/span>dark grey color for the exterior. \u00a0So clean and modern!\"Michelle<\/a>Her living room is dreamy! \u00a0I love the contrast\u00a0of the traditional marble fireplace, stark white walls and\u00a0modern\u00a0Stilnovo Holstebro Pendant Lamp<\/a>.

She painted most of the interior walls\u00a0Tibetan Jasmine (Ralph Lauren Paint)<\/a> \u2014 the color of practically every Ralph Lauren showroom worldwide “because how can you go wrong with that?”<\/p>\n

The kitchen is light and airy. \u00a0Michelle took down the dated upper cabinets and replaced them with open shelving to lighten\u00a0up the space.

She\u00a0fell in love with the paintings of Karyn Lyons<\/a> and commissioned this piece for her space.\"Michelle<\/a><\/p>\n

I love the mix of\u00a0high and low here. \u00a0The cabinet is from Crate and Barrel<\/a>, the light fixture, Nickey Kehoe<\/a>, and the fabric for the curtains are Hollyhock Pyne by F. Schumacher<\/a>.<\/a><\/p>\n

Her bedroom was inspired by Ali Cayne<\/a>‘s bedroom that she featured\u00a0in 2013 for Domino. I love the navy Ralph Lauren paint on the walls. \u00a0 Perfectly paired with the Madeline Weinrib <\/a>blanket

Buying an older house has it challenges, the first being lack of closet\u00a0space. \u00a0Michelle took space from an adjoining room to create her dream closet, designed by California Closets.<\/a>\"Michelle<\/a>I love the mix of the mid-century Oly Side Chair<\/a> and Traditional chest.\"Michelle<\/a><\/p>\n

She\u00a0added mirrors to both sides of every door upstairs to brighten the space, “It’s a trick I spotted in Michele B\u00f6nan’s hotels.” \u00a0
