Our backyard is almost complete. Now it’s time to zhush it up!
Last week, I showed you the transformation of our dining room console. I thought I may as well show you the rest of the dining room while I’m at it.
The table was my parents. They bought it in 1969, the year they got married. It’s so beautiful. I couldn’t part with it.
Remember those chairs I ordered from Home Decorator’s Collection? Well, they have been given a makeover.
The other console is an oldie form Crate & Barrel. We painted it Peppermint Leaf by Benjamin Moore. The walls and console were painted in Benjamin Moore, Black Satin.
The mirror was $69.99 at HomeGoods. Another score!
The curtain fabric was custom-designed by yours truly. The gold medallions are hand-painted. We used the same curtains in the adjoining living room. I’ll be sharing those pics next week!

Palm and Banana Leaves are having a moment, and I couldn’t be happier.
Cat Deeley is a fan.
So is this lady.. (Source unknown.)
Some people choose to wear their palms.
like Sheridan French.
Some choose to relax with them.
I will always remember this picture of Nicky Hilton’s kitchen from In Style.
Nate Berkus loves it too.
Many people credit the Beverly Hills Hotel for the rise in popularity of the Martinique Wallpaper
but I give credit, where credit is due… Thank you for being a friend, Blanche Devereuax.
Can’t afford a room covered in Martinique? Here are some ways to get your palm on without breaking the bank.
This beauty has had quite a makeover. Not so long ago, she looked like this…
That was in my parents house. As soon as we moved her to our house we lost the hutch. See how I created the wall of intaglios here.
But I still wasn’t thrilled with it, so I painted it the same color as the walls.
and spruced up the hardware with Krylon Gold Spray Paint
I also had a piece of glass cut to protect the top.
Isn’t she lovely?
We had a such a great Father’s Day weekend.
Took the pip squeaks on their first horseback riding adventure.
They loved it!
Then we kidnapped Daddy and surprised him with a trip to Lowe’s to pick out a new grill for our backyard.
Speaking of the backyard. Things are finally moving again. We are so close to being done I can taste it!
We finally got the new siding and new windows put in.
Along with the fireplace and window seats with lots of storage for pillows!
We just need to finish the patio and fire pit, then it’s on to landscaping and finally paint!
