Don Draper has one, why shouldn’t you? That’s right, I am talking about a bar cart. I bought a bar cart at the Lucketts Store for $125 (identical to #4) last year. As I mentioned in Kirsten Krason’s Good Design with Kids in Mind series, sometimes you have to make concessions in decor with kids. Because I still have two little ones who might literally drink a bottle of Grey Goose, I use it more as a tea cart in our dining room.

She’s Gone Country.

Mike and I dream of one day having a lake house. A cozy cabin where our family can retreat on weekends. Ahhh, to dream……

Lucite: There’s a Ghost in My House.

Halloween is on the horizon and what better time to add a ghost chair to your home? Ghost chairs, Lucite chairs, acrylic chairs, they’re all one in the same. Lucite seems to be a buzz word. Generally, you’ll pay a lot more money when a piece has Lucite in the title. There are thousands of types of acrylic out there. Lucite is merely the brand name of DuPont’s acrylic material. Acrylic is essentially the clearest type of plastic, about eight times clearer than glass. It is a great option when you have little ones in the house. However, while it is more durable than glass, it is breakable.

Kiki’s List Giveaway: Rikshaw Design.
Boho-chic for babes. That is the best way to describe the adorable line from Rikshaw Design. Catherine Fitzsimmons, owner of Rikshaw Design was a merchandiser for Ralph Lauren and a textile buyer for Pottery Barn. After a trip to India, she fell in love with the vivid colors and intricate designs of Indian block printing. In 2008 Catherine launched Rikshaw Design and the rest is history.

The Color Purple.
Next week, you all will see pictures of E’s fifth birthday party. The color scheme was lilac and chartreuse, and it was gorgeous. Inspired by the Princess and the Frog color scheme, I am intrigued by purple in the home. While I love wearing the color purple, I currently have no purple in our home. However, it is a color that I am seeing more and more of in the trade. Inspired by the gorgeous Suzanis by Donghia, and the bold patterns by Madeline Weinrib and Kelly Wearstler, I think purple is going to be a big color for the fall. Enjoy this bundle of purplicious delight.

X Marks the Spot.

No matter where you look, every major furniture line is carrying some sort of an x stool. I love the look of two of these tucked away under a console table in a living room. Mark a spot in your home. Here are the x benches that made it onto Kiki’s List:

Ode To Geodes.

Geodes are at the top of my accessory list for both jewelry and my home for this Fall. I adore the cocktail rings from Mayastar in Wednesday’s post. I just love the natural beauty of these crystal formations. In case you were wondering, a geode is a a hollow rock or nodule with the cavity usually lined with crystals. These geological rock formations occur in sedimentary and certain volcanic rocks.
