It took a long time to find just the right paper for the ceiling.  I was thrilled that the winner was from Home Depot!  The chairs were a Craigslist find that I reupholstered.

As you may know, the curtains were custom painted.

Remember the Nate Berkus turtle shells that I painted?  Aren’t they fab?

Found this needlepoint on Craiglist.  Had her made into a pillow.  We had leftover turquoise linen from the wingbacks, so I had two pillows made.  The Schumacher pillows are from Etsy.

We love our new living room.  What I love most is that we didn’t break the bank creating it.

Our Dining Room.

Last week, I showed you the transformation of our dining room console.  I thought I may as well show you the rest of the dining room while I’m at it.

The table was my parents.  They bought it in 1969, the year they got married.  It’s so beautiful.  I couldn’t part with it.

Remember those chairs I ordered from Home Decorator’s Collection?  Well, they have been given a makeover.

The other console is an oldie form Crate & Barrel.  We painted it Peppermint Leaf by Benjamin Moore.  The walls and console were painted in Benjamin Moore, Black Satin.

The curtain fabric was custom-designed by yours truly.  The gold medallions are hand-painted.  We used the same curtains in the adjoining living room.  I’ll be sharing those pics next week!

This beauty has had quite a makeover.  Not so long ago, she looked like this…

That was in my parents house.  As soon as we moved her to our house we lost the hutch.  See how I created the wall of intaglios here.

But I still wasn’t thrilled with it, so I painted it the same color as the walls.

Round Here.

Memorial Day Weekend was not exactly a time of relaxation around here.   Karen, Dad and I went back to the beach for one last cram session of work.

On the way into town, we stopped and scooped up some essential accessories.

Many a light fixtures were installed.

Beds were made.

Tile was installed.

Accessories hung.

Tables styled.

And much painting, spackling, scrubbing and moving in between.  We arrived home late Saturday night and I awoke to a little surprise Momma Squatter left us.  Aren’t they amazing???

The Louax.

About 11 months ago, Lou exclaimed that she wanted a Lorax party for her fifth birthday.  At the time, she had just turned four, so I thought for sure she’d change her mind.  She didn’t.  So to celebrate our baby girl’s five amazing years on this planet, we had the Louax party.  It was the most perfect day.
Once again, Ryann Colleen Photography took the most amazing pictures.  We are so grateful to have them to always remember this special day.

Round Here.

My blog header is ack’ing all cray cray.  Anyone know how to fix this?

Anywho… Here’s some snippets of life round here…

Our little Matisse had her artwork featured at Dulles Town Center.  We were so proud!   Now we are having conversations about healthier food choices.
In an effort to expose these clowns to some culture we saw a tribute to Stephen Schwartz, which was pretty awesome, because he came to the stage and spoke of some of his experiences writing songs for Wicked.  (E is obsessed after our trip to Broadway.)
Speaking of clowns…
I can’t stand it, this literally makes my eyes hurt.
I was hoping to have an update for you all on the back porch, but we are at a stand-still.  You see, removing the gutters, etc. we realized how warped our siding was…
So we are awaiting the next HOA meeting to get approval to replace it with something MUCH nicer.
We did have our fireplace installed.  That ginormous piece of wood sitting on top is the reclaimed barn beam that I found for our mantle.  It’s going to be ridic.
And the rough-in for lighting.
However, it’s been so long since we’ve had any movement, this Momma Bird started making other plans for our porch.
Squatter.
These two will make sure that Momma and babies find a safe new home when it’s time to finally finish this project.
