We are off for another Fall weekend at the Homestead. We had so much fun last year.
Now, I’m not what you would say an outdoorsy girl. How do you mix style and comfort? Here’s what I am thinking. (You won’t beleive where I found that leather satchel!)
I posted about this book back in Spring 2011. I wanted it.. BAD, but wasn’t willing to pay $500 for it… (Now the price has quadrupled at $2,000.. WOWSA!)
Many of you spied it in our Family Circle shoot and asked where I got it. Unfortunately, it is sold out, but you can get a similar copy here for 25 bones!
I have never been a fan of the “Princess” phase that little girls go through. I would cringe when you asked one of them what they wanted to be when they grow up and they would reply “a Princess.” I wanted them to see past the glitter and tulle. I wanted them to not rely on a Prince to always save the day. I wanted them to aspire to be more than just another beautiful face. So, when I saw this commercial on the Disney Channel the other day, I’ll admit… it made me tear up just a little. It was powerful. Maybe I’m a sucker. Check it out for yourself.
What a great message for little girls;
Be who you are.
It’s okay to be different.
Be brave.
It’s okay to be scared. Be brave even when you are scared.
Be loyal. Trust.
Be kind.
Be generous. Be kind even when others are not so generous.
Stand up yourself.
Stand up for others. Stand with others.
Be compassionate.
Kindness is power.
Family is the tightest bond of all.
You are beautiful. You are strong.
Always keep your promises.
Somehow, I feel a tinsy bit better about the small fortune I have invested in the Disney Princess franchise. Hell, I am a Princess too! Anybody with me?
I have been on the hunt for the perfect pair of sconces. Although they don’t have what I am looking for, I keep coming back to Charles Edwards’ lighting. I ain’t kidding— he makes some real stunners. Check it out for yourself.
