Our Kitchen: The Skinny.

A few months ago, I gave you all a sneak peek at our kitchen.    Thank you to everyone for all of the sweet comments and emails.  I still receive a few questions about some of the products that we used, so here is the skinny:
The paint is Benjamin Moore’s Satin Impervo in Black.  It’s durable (this kitchen was painted two years ago), and gives the perfect finish.
We chose the Gilmore Knobs from Restoration Hardware.
As well as the Gilmore pulls.
The Ikat bowls are from Anthropologie.  I am sorry to say that they are sold out.
The rug is from Overstock.com.  Quite a steal at $127.99!
The fabric is Kelly Wearstler’s Imperial Trellis from Schumaker.
I bought the clam shell bowl at Kohl’s years ago.  You can find similar ones at Z Gallerie.
The soap dispenser is from Target.
I hope that answers all of your questions.  I am so glad that so many of you love our kitchen as much as we do!

Ryann Colleen Photo Shoot.

My friend Ryann Laden of Ryann Colleen Photography was so sweet to come out and take some pictures of us.  Spoiler Alert:  For those of you receiving Christmas cards from the Salmons, expect one of these pictures to be on it.  Ryann did an amazing job and the girls absolutely ADORED her.  We had so much fun.

Thank You Ryann, these are pictures that we will treasure forever.

Thank You Washington Post!

If you are a Washingtonian, be sure to pick up the Washington Post today where you will see a spread on Lou’s room!
Last month, a friend of mine (Thanks JJ!) sent me an email about a Kid’s Room Contest, and suggested that I enter Lou’s room.  When I went to the site to submit, it didn’t seem to be working, so I figured that my entry didn’t “take.”  Well what a surprise when I received a call last week from Delece Smith-Barrow from the Washington Post that we won!   They came out last Friday to take pictures and Lou had a ball entertaining them in her room.

A Fall Retreat.

This weekend was filled with birthday parties, errands and a flooded basement for the Salmons.  After a long Saturday filled with a new sump pump and a steep plumbers bill, on Sunday we headed out for our annual retreat to Great Country Farms.
It was 80 degrees in DC yesterday.  Not exactly fall-like weather, but we didn’t let it stop us!

This was their cousin Olivia‘s first trip to the pumpkin patch.  She loved it!

Helen came along too.

We picked out the perfect pumpkins, and my little goblins are eager to start carving.

Mini-Capes.

Capes are the ultimate fall accessory.  I have two camel capes that I adore, one in wool, and the other in a lightweight fabric.  I am not a sewer, but I wish that I was, because this tutorial looks pretty simple.   For those of you that are and have a little girl or two in your life, these capes are a MUST.  And, if you want to make two more…. the Salmon girls wear a size 8 and a size 5T. 😉
